Tonna’s Log: Reflecting on thoughts of Day 1, I realized that I - TopicsExpress

Tonna’s Log: Reflecting on thoughts of Day 1, I realized that I glazed over mid-way through the day, but I stayed the course. I find that I do better with this when away from my kitchen; too many distractions. I kept my eating regulated and my snacks spaced out but about 6pm I must have had a moment because I started wondering how my trusting and beloved shih-tzu, Bailey would taste with mustard, between two pieces of bread….hmmmm? About the time my eyes glazed over, Bailey barked at me as if to say “snap out of fool, don’t make me call the law”, I must have snapped out of it, but I digress. Anyway, I knew no good would come of me there, so I leashed Bailey and took him for a walk. I’ve got my music, my dog, my FitBit and I’m ready! I turn the corner only to find the ice cream truck that has never been in my neighborhood before today just sitting there. He was taunting me. I saw the look on the grill of the truck when I turned the corner. It was as if the truck knew of my mission because I swear the truck followed me. At every turn the truck was there trying to call me over. He wanted to talk about the “good, old days” when I didn’t care about what I ate and cared even less about exercising. He started reminiscing about how wonderful he used to make me feel and how we could just start up where we left off. “It would be like old times” he said. When he looked at me with those big, fluffy, yellow eyes, the ones I used to think were so cute and tried to tempt me with his frosty goodies, I told him he looked like a drunk, we’ll never have what we had so long ago and mentally flattened all his tires. I reminded him that I too knew where he and his buddies live and melting in the hot sun is a slow and painful death not fitting of any Nutty Buddy or Bomb Pop. He relented for a bit and wanted to keep following me and just about the time I was ready to shove freeze pops up the drivers…well, let’s just say I realized that prison orange ain’t a good look on me, so I dodged between two houses and made a beeline for home.. Not today Mr. Frosty, not today! I know him though and he’s relentless. I know he’s sending a whole new batch of temptations for me today because he’s selfish that way. I’m armed though with my smoothie and my snacks. This warrior princess will be ready! Bring it Day 2!!!
