Tony Anenih still dines with new PDP faction – northern group The group orders its members to shut down all “new PDP” offices in all northern states. A group within the Peoples Democratic Party has directed its members in the 19 northern states to take legal steps to close down any branch or office belonging to the new faction of the party that emerged last Saturday. The group, named the Peoples Democratic Party Arewa Democrat, said it has thrown its weight behind President Goodluck Jonathan, and described the recent developments in the ruling party as an attempt by enemies of Nigeria those who seek to derail the administration. In a statement signed by Garba Kofar- Mata and Musa Dogara Chairman and Secretary respectively, on Sunday, the group called on President Jonathan to be “extra- ordinarily careful in dealing with the Chairman of the Board of Trustee, BOT, of PDP, Chief Tony Anenih whose comments since the extra ordinary convention of the party two weeks ago has shown that he is at home with the dissidents,” it said. “How could the Chairman of the BOT who is properly briefed on developments in the party and had previously taken a trip round the country on reconciliation be massaging the ego of the dissidents and saying they have genuine grievances? It only shows that Anenih is still dinning and winning with his friends in Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, where he was a prominent chieftain until the renegades registered the party few weeks ago”, the statement added. The group said the Bamanga Tukur led leadership of PDP and the presidency should also ignore the “ranting” of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his supporters as Mr. Atiku, whom they described as a “nomadic politician” is trying to be relevant in the political calculation of the country post 2015. “Atiku is living in past glories and fool’s paradise, whoever follows him will have himself to blame for committing political suicide. No amount of religious and ethnic politics can make him achieve his goal of ruling this country as it is God that gives power,” the statement added. It also said the group is solidly behind President Goodluck Jonathan and have no inhabitation or encumbrance in recommending the president as the party’s standard bearer in 2015′ adding that President Jonathan’s administration has been “too fair “to the northern part of the country. The group advised those not persuaded by their submission that the present administration has been fair to the north to compare the north of 1999-2008 and the north under President Jonathan since he took over from late President Umaru Yar’adua.
