Tony Blair: Good with geography bad with Politics. What do the following countries and geographical regions have in common: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, C.A.R, Chad, China, Egypt, France, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Russia, Spain, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, UK, USA, Yemen. Central Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe, the Gulf, the Levantine Coast, the Middle East (of course), North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, South America and even poor old Birmingham. 1) They all got mentioned in Mr Blairs Bloomberg speech a couple of days ago 2) They are all suffering victims, in one way or another, of “Islamist Ideology” – according to Mr Blair of course No, Tony was not trying to copy Yakko from the Animaniacs (youtube/watch?v=x88Z5txBc7w) instead he was trying, yet again, to brainwash and warp our perception of world affairs. Unsurprisingly, Tony wants us all to know that it is not his illegal wars or the support to military dictators that is behind many of the problems in the Middle East – far from it. He wants us to all know that it is the evil Islamist plot that is going to engulf the entire world. Even Europe isn’t safe, after all 1 out of 20 people in the European continent is a Muslim. Tony wants you to know that the only reason Europe still exists is because Al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and Hezbollah have not yet succeeded in manufacturing 40 million suicide vests to be used by all of Europe’s Muslims. The moment they build them all… Europe will go BOOM. It is not the over-simplified analysis of “Islamism” or the scaremongering that makes me want to slap him with a long catch of salmon. It is the sheer audacity that this “Peace Envoy to the Middle East” has by stating that the place where my parents were born (and many of my loved ones live) is PRIMARILY important because turbulence means he has to pay more for his car’s petrol. Another important reason (for him of course) is because his chums in the Knesset who build apartheid walls, illegal settlements and have turned Gaza into the world’s biggest open air prison… don’t like to get disturbed. By comparing the threat of “Islamism” with the disasters of fascism as experienced by previous generations, Blair is propagating the kind of Islamophobia that you would expect from the lovechild of Nick Griffin and Marine Le Pen. Tony’s speech shows that the man behind some of the biggest crimes of the 21st Century is back. And by mentioning over 30 countries in his speech he is giving us advance warning that this time the disasters he is working towards will be on a much bigger scale than Afghanistan or Iraq.
