2nd & 3rd Shift Production Machine Operators Apply Report This Job View Other Jobs on the Kroger Talent Network Job Description OPERATIONS POSITION DESCRIPTION Location: America’s Beverage Company Department: Production Reporting RelationshipTitle Reports to: Production Supervisor Primary Work Location: Filler Production Area Summary: A machine operator must be able to operate any and all of the production line equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This includes start-up and shut down and clearing jams. The operators will be standing the entire shift other than at breaks or lunch. The operator must keep the machine supplied with a variety of raw materials varying from machine to machine. This includes cardboard, caps, ends, stretch wrap, hycone materials, pallets and glue. The operator is expected to learn and understand the basic operation of the machine and be capable of performing minor adjustments on it. The machine and area are to be kept clean throughout the shift. Hand stacking may be required daily, depending on equipment availability and could last the entire shift. Basic reading, writing, and math skills are required in order to read production schedules and maintain and complete machine downtime and material loss reports. The machine operator is expected to monitor a variety of conditions relating to product quality. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned: 1. Responsible for keeping known loss to a minimum. 2. Responsible for the cleanliness of the machine area 3. Responsible for monitoring all inventories associated with the operation of the machine 4. Good eye/hand coordination due to high speed of equipment 5. Able to work in a wet environment 6. Able to remain calm under pressure 7. Able to maintain records of lost and damaged materials 8. Able to be an effective team member 9. Willing to support the Safety Quality and Reliability of the Plant and Team. General: 1. Follow all Plant policies and procedures. 2. Maintain a high work ethic. 3. Keep open line of communication with peers, supervisors and management. 4. Complete all paperwork as needed. 5. Perform all other duties as assigned by leads and supervisor. 6. Operation, general machine/work area maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment. 7. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times. 8. Be available for overtime and call-ins. 9. Maintain effective communication with the Department Team Lead through conversations, reports, and meetings. 10. Be able to analyze problems and suggest effective solutions. 11. Must be able to follow, interpret, modify, distribute, and account for the production schedule. 12. Must be able to perform all production tasks while following procedures. 13. Must have knowledge of policies related to Safety and GMP’s. 14. Must maintain production supplies at the prescribed levels so that the line does not shut down for lack of materials. Labor Control: 1. Work shifts as scheduled. 2. Achieve established benchmarks by working with a sense of urgency. 3. Work overtime only with supervisor’s approval. Supply Control: 1. Control excessive use of supplies. 2. Strive to meet or exceed Production goals. Inventory Control: 1. Fill out all paperwork neatly and accurately. 2. Check for, and pull, damaged pallets. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge required. Education and/or experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years production manufacturing experience. Language skills: Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to fill out routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and convey information to other employees. Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers. Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical demands: The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Standing and walking on concrete floors, while operating a machine and disposing of waste. Estimated hours is 8 hr and maximum continuous time is 2 ½ hours. Lifting and carrying lids, ends, cardboard, and cases. Average weight is 20lbs. and maximum weighs 50lbs. Pushing and Pulling brooms, squeegees, and mops. Climbing stairs to reach operating platform of some machines. Bending, Squatting, and kneeling to pick up raw materials and to clean up area. Reaching for raw materials, to clear jams, and while hand stacking. Work environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment Occasionally works in high places Is exposed to wet and humid conditions. Concrete Floors Requires eye and steel toe boot protection to be worn at all times. The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection to be worn at all times. Work schedules: The work week is Tuesday - Saturday however it could vary depending upon production requirements. It may include Sundays and Holidays with a specific weekday or rotating day off. Quality Control: Will follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements. Will support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems. Will be accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles. Actively support the production of quality products on all production lines.
