Tony, I certainly apologize that things didnt work out for Billy and I to complete the tile job. In my opinion all three of us are responsible. None the less we did complete the tear out and we did complete the tile installation in the kitchen and living room and along both sides of the hallway. From the beginning of our oral contract you agreed to let us stay there rent free until the job was complete and agreed when it was complete that we would be given the 2005 Ford Ranger truck and all the recyclables in your backyard to pay for the registration on the truck that was more than two months overdue. You never gave us a time limit. However shortly after the tear out was complete you began to pressure us about completion, even though, you were in agreement , and Bills professional opinion was that it was the worst tear out he had ever seen. Due to the holidays and one day that Bill had to go to urgent care we worked everyday. Considering all these factors and the fact that we worked everyday you were still not satisfied that we were laying the tile fast enough. I would also like to point out that several areas in your house had been torn out the carpet etc., and was cement for almost a year prior to us coming there. So the sudden urgency to complete it I still dont understand. You left a two page letter (and I have the letter) stating how dissatisfied you were, stating that you did agree we could stay there rent free but that now a month went by you would be charging us $800.00 a month plus charging me every cigarette that I smoked of yours and every mixed drink that I drank including a couple of beers. You also stated that you would sell the truck at that point, for an amount that was unrealistic, but okay, put the money in a account and deduct our expenses from that amount and give us what was left over. I was devastated myself when I read this letter. These are the reasons why; 1) Bill and I came there for an opportunity to get sober and get on our feet. We did that our entire stay there.2) We provided our on food and almost every meal you were included. NEVER once nor would I expect you to reimburse me for that food, yet you want to inventory every cigarette that I smoked of yours, and charge for about a half a dozen mixed drinks I drank total and a couple of beers you shared with me. 3) Not only did I clean your home, but I did your laundry, made your bed, and walked your two dogs almost every single day that I was there. According to Kelly blue book the truck is worth around $4000.00 Tony I feel like you fooled me, I feel like you took advantage of the fact that you knew we were recovering drug addicts. The way it felt is that you took it upon yourself to judge us, and used that to your advantage. Which you do not have the right to do. You really took advantage of me I felt, I am a nice person, I also feel like you took advantage of your Uncle Bill, he was so sensitive to the fact that you were his nephew he wanted you to be happy and take special time on this job to make sure it was done very good and right. I remember several days and nights that Bill stopped working , took 2 sometimes 3 hrs. On several different occasions to go over the installation with you extensively, At your request. In the end Tony I feel like you were making impossible for us to complete the job and only you know why. Whatever the reason it was unacceptable, and you three our clothes, our personal belongings in the back of that truck and let it get rained on like it was the trash. That was really mean Tony, not to mention Bill is your family. You certainly did not have to do that, Im a girl Tony, you three all our personal belongings in the trash. I definitely would like to be compensated. Im enclosing a Bill of what you owe us for the work we completed. Me personally I never wanted the money I wanted the truck, either way Tony we need paid , so I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. In closing I was just like to say we both tried our very best and we were doing it sober, why you decided all of a sudden it was not acceptable to you, we did our very best and you treated us like vagrants. I was particularly hurt for Bill when you went to his moms on Christmas eve and didnt even invite him and smeared it in his face when you returned. That was mean.
