There is something very wrong here... I get a Quicken Summary every week in the form of a pie chart that shows my weekly expense categories. For the past several months the number 1 expense is Federal Income Tax. More that groceries (and I spend a lot on food), more than car payment, more then mortgage payment, more than insurance payments. When I donate to my church I do it for specific causes; funding transportation for the youth group to the NC mountains to help poor people repair their homes; blankets for the homeless... honestly, I really like to know where my money is going so I am assured it is getting in the hands of people who need it, and not mostly to everyone in between who handles it. That is why it is so hard for me to blindly send SO MUCH of what I work SO HARD for to politicians to pick a distribution method for supposedly giving people in need a hand up. I sure hope it is for a hand up and not a hand out. There are so many things Id like to provide to MY OWN children, but simply can not afford to... AND, I heard campaign promises like, If you are earning less than $450,000 your income tax will NOT BE AFFECTED... Isnt it a lie when you only tell a half-truth? Yes, my RATE did not increase, but I am paying way more taxes because the threshold for various deductions like MEDICAL, for instance, has been pushed up to the point where I can not write off the expenses I could the year before. *SO, if the Fed KEEPS more of my money without increasing my rate, then I am supposed to believe that my taxes did not go up? LIE. I can tell my bank balance it is a LIE. And, I assure you- I make NO WHERE NEAR $450,000 a year; a small fraction of it actually...
