Took Bonnie out tonight to see the new movie, “Monuments Men.” Based on the true story, the movie focused on seven over-the-hill, out-of-shape museum directors, artists, architects, curators and art historians (George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and Cate Blanchett) who went to the front lines during World War II to rescue the world’s artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their rightful owners. After the movie, we talked about some of the places we have visited here and wonder whether some of the artworks weve seen were a part of this dark period of European history.
