Took the car to get its fluids changed today, and got handed a $600 estimate. Said no, and started crossing off little fixes I asked them to do from the estimate. One of them was a $48 line item for them to fix our out headlight (I had already replaced the bulbs recently, and that hadnt fixed it, and I know our fuses are good). I crossed that one off, thinking, well, its just a fix-it ticket. Then, in a moment of thought, looked at the diagnostics from last time the car was in the shop (two weeks ago to fix the fuel pump and get the car running). That said that the headlight was disconnected and needed more diagnostics. I went down to the car, popped the hood, and looked around for a minute. Saw a plug that looked like it would fit the headlight. Plugged the headlight into said plugin. Now, all the headlights work again. Grateful to have dodged a $48 shaped bullet there. Might be time to find a new mechanic...
