Took the day off from FB yesterday...just wanted to bask in the warm glow of family and food...and we did...Kendra came out Wednesday evening to lend a hand with the Turkey Day prep and it was much appreciated...She spent the night which meant the dogs got to sleep with her and THEY appreciated that...Yesterday morning I looked out the door to see my neighbor Todd cleaning my patio and walk and my paper was on the porch...Not only did I appreciate that but Kendra also...she had planned to do it for me...I drove into town to pick up Jeris mom Bonnie and when Rob and Trisha arrived we sat down to a Hy-Vee/Moberg prepared feast...After returning from taking Bonnie home (she had a date with her two of her great grandsons) we sat down to play Cards Against Humanity... Except Rob forgot to grab the question cards...he only had the answer cards...since the game is so much like Apples to Apples we decided to use the question cards from that game...Now was it Cards Against Apples or was it Apples Against Humanity...? Either way... it was fun and we laughed as a family like we havent in a long time...truly a blessing to be thankful for...I did miss Lexi, Hunter, and Jaiden but they were with their dad...There was also a little sadness that Jeris dad, Delbert, wasnt present physically and we all had a hug and a cry about it...but I think his spirit was present... We didnt serve up a supper meal...rather we packed up food for everyone to take home and there was plenty...Jeri had me pick up some turkey legs to be sure there was extra meat...there was...we had the only 5-legged turkey around...;) and by 8:00 I had the dishes and kitchen all spiffed up and then Jeri and I dished up our second helping...a little smaller than the first...;) Overall I got to have turkey...twice baked cheesy cauli...green bean casserole...two different kinds of dressing :) ...corn casserole...cranberry sauce and NO MASHED POTATOES N GRAVY...! I did lick the serving spoon when I went to wash it tho...;) For dessert I ate the cream cheese/ pineapple/apricot guts out of a horn of plenty that Trisha made...left the pastry aside...and later I had a pumpkin pudding recipe that Jeri pulled off from Rachel Ray... I was really proud of myself because I was able to hold my daily average BG reading to a 145 and I got to eat some stuff I really enjoy...all around...a very good Thanksgiving...:) And at present the chemo side effects are minimal...I did spend a good portion of the day today in the recliner but a lot of that was just from energy expended yesterday...Still have my hair (for another week or two anyway) and not much in the way of nausea...One thing I noticed on the list of side effects...one drug causes constipation and another causes diarrhea...make up your mind...;)
