Top 10 Moments of 2014: #8 Filming RUNAWAY In #RUNAWAY, a straight - laced guy threatens his eclectic girlfriends independence with a marriage proposal, turning their romantic getaway into an emotional roller coaster. Director Milton Walker IV, Zoe Fitzgerald and their #Brooklyn-based Walking House production team brought the project to my doorstep. They absorbed the #GOLD album and extracted film’s concept. Great art inspires others to create. That ideal undergirds my artistic mission: to inspire, ignite and nurture the #humanspirit. Prior to filming #RUNAWAY, Walking House and I collaborated on two lyric videos (“Fall Winter Spring Summer” and “Finally”). I respected their work. I trusted their genuine appreciation for my music. They could have chosen a different woman to portray the inimitable Stephen (@StephenHillActs) Hill’s partner, and I would have acquiesced. However, when asked if I wanted to co-star, I leapt at the opportunity. Like songwriting, poetry, rapping and singing, #acting is a form of #storytelling that profoundly interests me. The woman in RUNAWAY is a powerful figure with whom many women can relate. She is analytical, sophisticated and strong - yet she wants to make room for love. P.S.
