Top defensive players, specialists in Georgia High School semifinals Playoffs Defensive linemen *Titus Davis, Stockbridge: Committed to Central Florida, Davis is Stockbridge’s most highly rated prospect, although Stockbridge’s other defensive end, junior Charles Wiley, is just as productive. *William Evans, Aquinas: He’s not a major recruit yet, but this smallish defensive end has 21.5 sacks. He had seven tackles for losses in the first round against St. Francis. *Natrez Patrick, Mays: Committed to Georgia, Patrick is the highest-rated defensive prospect still in the playoffs. He has 19 sacks. *Tyrone Riley, Calvary Day: Committed to Kentucky, Riley had a monster game in the quarterfinals. *Julian Rochester, McEachern: Rochester is rated Georgia’s No. 1 defensive prospect for the class of 2016. Linebackers *Bull Barge, Colquitt County: Rush Propst, his coach, calls him the best defensive player in Class AAAAAA. Barge has 91 solo tackles, 160 overall. *Paul Carothers, Greater Atlanta Christian: No team still playing has a better pair of linebackers than Carothers (committed to Navy) and Tyler Cooksey (Georgia Tech). Both are 220-pound beasts. Carothers is the Spartans’ leading tackler. *Will Conley, Calhoun: Conley is not that big (6-0, 190), but he’s the leader of Calhoun’s defense. He has 20 tackles for losses. *Pat Jasinski, Blessed Trinity: Jasinski is Region 4-AAA’s defensive player of the year. He has 88 tackles and five interceptions. He also has five TD receptions at tight end. *Austin Smith, Buford: Smith is Buford’s second-leading tackler, and No. 1 in stops behind the line with eight. He is committed to Tennessee. Defensive backs *David Curry, Buford: Curry is the team’s leading tackler and had 13 stops against Marist last week. He also has one punt-return touchdown. Curry is a safety committed to Virginia. *Arrington Farrar, Woodward Academy: Farrar, who is committed to Stanford, has more than 90 tackles. *Dylan Singleton, Archer: A free safety, Singleton has more than 100 tackles and scored 11 touchdowns on offense and special teams. *Lorenzo Smothers, Marion County: Nobody still playing affects the game in so many ways. He has put 14 of 29 inside the 20 and given up only 53 yards in returns. *Luis Martinez, Colquitt County: He has put 56 of 100 kickoffs into the end zone and made 10 of 17 field-goal attempts, one a 50-yarder. *Justin Thompson, Aquinas: Thompson is averaging 42.9 yards per punt and has 59 touchbacks out of 81 kickoffs. He has made seven of 12 field-goal attempts, one a 50-yarder. Best of the rest *Devin Adams, Hawkinsville: Adams is a 5-foot-11, 235-pound noseguard with 24 tackles for losses. He occupies blockers for Hawkinsville’s great pair of defensive ends, Royce Owens and Keshun Wright. *Robert Heyward, Calvary Day: Heyward has more than 3,000 yards rushing and 200 tackles for his career as a two-way starting running back and linebacker. *Isaiah Malcome, Westminster: Malcome has rushed for 1,583 yards and scored 20 touchdowns, three returning kicks. He also has thrown a TD pass. *Isaac Nauta, Buford: He is rated the No. 1 junior tight end in the country, but Buford doesn’t pass much. He still leads the team with 13 catches for 247 yards and six touchdowns.
