Top story at 4pm, National Assembly plans on suspending EFF Members of Parliament... National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete is considering the suspension of Economic Freedom Fighters Members of Parliament who disrupted questions to President Jacob Zuma last week. Mbete told other Members of Parliament that the matter is being referred to the Powers and Privileges Committee. The committee would be tasked with probing the actions of EFF leader Julius Malema and his fellow members to find out whether their actions constituted contempt of the legislature. The Hawks have told reporters that a Durban policeman has confessed to the murder of Constable Nkanyiso Ngcobo. Ngcobo’s body was found buried in a shallow grave in uMkhomazi on the South Coast last week. Hawks spokesperson Paul Ramaloko says the officer was arrested today along with a colleague and another suspect in connection with the murder. Ramaloko says all three suspects appeared briefly at the uMbumbulu Magistrates Court. A man trampled to death by an elephant in Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site in Limpopo may have been part of an illegal cigarette smuggling syndicate. A South Africa National Parks official told EyeWitness News that a number of people have been seen trespassing in the park. Other people trading in illegal cigarettes have also passed through the park. Rangers believed that he had been with a group of people as a number of footprints were visible in the surrounding area. Police are still investigating the case. And finally...Residents from a township in the Liberian capital of Monrovia have witnessed dogs eating the remains of dead Ebola victims. Reports say that after witnessing the dog’s behaviour in the Johnsonville Township, some young men immediately contacted the health ministry, but no action was taken. The men tried to kill the dogs, but some escaped the scene leaving residents in fear. Dr Stephen Korsman from the University of Cape Town medical virology division told News24 that dogs and pigs are so far the only domestic animals that are identified as species that can be infected with the Ebola virus.
