Topic of interest for interested conservation biologist and wildlife ecologist Wild food preference of Chinese construction workers in the railway station of Addis –Dire Dawa: Potential threat to wildlife status in the rural areas of Eastern Ethiopia. By : Getachew M. The political, economical and social relation of Chinese with our country Ethiopia is a good bench mark for our developmental effort. Most of the Chinese are participating in various economic endeavors of the country mainly in construction and industrial sectors. The construction tasks focusing on rural roads and railway expansion program is the one which is enhancing the growth and transformation plan with a certain degree of damage to the wildlife species of conservation concern. My concern is not on the ecological impact assessment of the site before setting the project but it is on the food preference of Chinese toward wildlife of our interest. Some years was counted from the beginning of the railway development situated along Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa linking with the port of Djibouti. The main railway station is located in melka gebdu rural town a few kilometers away from Dire Dawa city administration towards eastern direction. The construction stuff working there is hunting wildlife for once consumption of interest illegally. According to the legal enforcement of Ethiopian wildlife utilization proclamation ratified in 2008 hunting is only carried out in controlled hunting area. If some practiced of hunting happen outside the suggested site the act is considered as poaching. Such practices are punishable in the legislation of the federal and democratic of Ethiopia constitution. Many wild life of conservation concern are killed by the Chinese construction works ignoring the legal affirmation of the country. Therefore, in this study we are initiated to study the animals of preference for their food consumption along the population of the animals in the rural areas of eastern Ethiopia where there is a railway station. Sometimes it looks like a devastating mission to instigate damage on biological diversity so as to reduce the economic input charged for African country because of keeping the biological and ecological integrity of the globe. Conserving Wildlife and the working on ecological monitoring to have a good ecosystem services is misused in the context of contemporary Ethiopia.
