Torino - Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre is Back: Dont Miss Out! Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre is back and it’s better than ever. Now in its 10th year, our international festival is returning to Turin this October, bringing together members of the Slow Food network and food lovers from every corner of the globe for the greatest food show on Earth. At the center of this year’s event will be two main themes: food biodiversity and family farming. Food biodiversity: The Slow Food Ark of Taste is a global project to catalogue rare and endangered products at risk of extinction. The products are “boarded” on to the Ark in order to navigate the choppy waters of the modern food system. This year, hundreds of Ark passengers will be on display in a 600 square meter space inside the event. But don’t turn up empty handed - we want you to bring along a product that you believe should be protected for future generations. Family Farming: The UN has declared 2014 the International Year of Family Farming. At Salone, 2,000 delegates from 1,000 Terra Madre food communities will be in town to tell their unique stories and showcase the fruits of their labor. The theme of family farming will be further developed in a series of conferences that will look at some of the biggest issues facing global agriculture including GM crops and climate change. We will also be celebrating the success of our Gardens in Africa project and looking at how we can reach our new target of 10,000 gardens. Alongside all this, participants will be able to take part in an array of seminars led by master bakers and pizza makers from all over Italy, and join world-class chefs for a series of unique and intimate Dinner Dates in and around the beautiful province of Turin. Our new look Cooking School will offer creative and practical lessons, including a number that will focus the creative use of leftovers. It’s not all about food either; we have a series of workshops on the subtle art of mixology to help you expand your repertoire of drinks, whether you’re drinking them or making them. Here at our Slow Food Editore, the corks have been popping for quite some time as our wine experts noisily try to decide the best 1000 wines in Italy. We are eagerly anticipating the full results at the launch of the 2015 Slow Wine guide, the ultimate guide to Italy’s wines, which will take place at Salone. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy our special Presidia products with 341 exhibitors selling artisanal produce. Meanwhile over in the Terra Madre Kitchen, 40 cooks from around the world will be bringing you exceptional and exotic dishes, all of which will reflect the Slow Food philosophy: good, clean and fair for everyone. It’s a mouth-watering lineup that promises to be the highlight of this year’s calendar. Salone Del Gusto and Terra Madre 2014 is taking place from October 23 – 27. Full descriptions for all our events can be found on the website, where you can book your places. Don’t miss out! salonedelgusto
