Total Football come out convincing champions of the Ivory Cup. London Town 0 vs 3 Total Football (KFC Stadium) Fish 38, 45, 69 In the opening game Total Football came out all guns blazing as they took on FVPA group B winners London Town. Despite Total Football having finished third in the very same league it was they who took the league after 38 minutes when Holt whipped in a dangerous cross which was met by the head of Fish who guided the ball across the stranded keeper and into the back of the net. London Town fell further behind during the first half injury time when Fish took a great first touch off of a cross box pass and beat the keeper at the near post. The game was all but over in the 69th minute as Fish struck a low driven shot past the keeper at his near post to get the only hat-trick of the tournament. Total Football 1 vs 0 Ivory Toast (The Aquarium) Muszynski 28 With Total Football having beat the FVPA Group B winners in convincing fashion the following match was far more interesting as they took on the Group A and eventual winners of the FVPA League tournament Ivory Toast. It was a very tense match that was won by a single goal that came from ex Holland manager Michel Muszynski who followed up a loose ball after Erik saved the initial shot from Viz. We tried to get an interview from Muszynski himself but he refused to comment as he was too busy eating a snickers bar. PSF Team United 1-1 Total Football (King Fahd Stadium) Pirlovic 10 Viz 15 Valkrie (Missed pen) 29 The final group game left PSF Team needing a win against Total Football to have any chance of qualifying for the final and they got off to a great start as they took the lead within 10 minutes after Pirlovic headed home a loose ball after a great save from Cheesy in the Total Football goal. However the lead was not held for long when World Cup winning goal scorer chased after a deflected ball to tap it home into an empty net. A dubious decision from the referee in the 29th minute saw PSF awarded a penalty despite the contact from Duck having been outside the area and accidental. None the less justice was restored as Cheesy made a spectacular over hand save from Valkyrie’s penalty to keep the scores level. The match ended equal with both teams having come close to taking the win in a well fought game. Total Football 4 vs 0 Ivory Toast (The Toaster) Viz pen missed 22 Viz 30 Villain (og) Fish 52,63 With Ivory Toast having drawn with London Town they had secured second place in the group table and a place in the final for a rematch with Total Football. With the tensions high the first game was played out as a scoreless draw but all was to change for the rematch as Total Football stood true to their name coming out convincing winners. It didn’t look like it was going to go Total Footballs way in the 22nd minute when star striker Viz saw his penalty saved by Erik after he had been taken down in the box. Despite missing a penalty in the final Viz seemed unfazed when he linked up with England team mate Phil Holt by driving home a stunning volley directly from the cross to give Total Football the lead. Ivory Toast, despite being a little shell shocked began to fight back but in injury time of the first half calamity in the defence saw a looping header kicked by Villain into the back of Erik only to go into his own goal and double the lead in favour of Total Football. In the second half it only got worse for Ivory Toast as Fish headed towards goal and as Ivory Toasts number 3 tried to clear he was tackled by Fish who tapped the ball into an open net. In the 63rd minute Fish found himself one on one with Erik who he dragged the ball around and tapped it into the open net to finish off the goal rout and secure the Ivory Cup for the Total Football trophy cabinet. After the game we caught up with Total Football manager Fish and he had this to say about the win “I was proud of the lads today, we worked well as a team and we deserved to come out the Ivory Cup champions”. We tried to catch up with Ivory Toast manager but he quickly made his excuses and left the stadium.
