Totally forgot to brag!! The other night, Explorer Girl, 4 years old and 100% Unschooled, said out of the blue, did you know that two 2s make four? I said, uh huh. And sat there silently stunned for a moment, before asking The Hubs if he had heard her. The Hubs and I both went to public school throughout childhood. The Hubs put his children through public school. Benny attended public school through 3rd grade. It is quite recently that we have discovered Unschooling. This school year will be Bennys 2nd year Unschooling. Legally, Explorer Girl isnt Homeschooling until the age of 6, but being a relatively new 4, she was never in a school environment! And now, unless she chooses otherwise, she will continue this journey unrestricted! I guess coming from a background of classrooms and desks, I am really reveling in the fact that nobody sat Explorer Girl down and lectured her in order to teach. She was not forced to do any worksheets or books in order to learn. Explorer Girl came to this conclusion from her own life experience...from something she enjoyed doing. And when she came to me to share the information, she was sure about it. It was something she knew. A lesson at school is easily forgotten. But nobody can take away the ventures of our own free will and choosing, to experience, manipulate and conclude. :)
