Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on Spain striker Roberto Soldado, according to The Metro. The north London club are keen on bringing the Valencia forward to the Premier League, as Andre Villas-Boas looks to boost his squad over the summer. Soldado, who scored 24 goals for the La Liga side last season, has a €30million release clause in his contract. Spurs had thought they could negotiate around the fee, but Valencia are unwilling to accept any offer below the asking price. Spurs are now unsure whether they will re-bid for Soldado, as they look to replace Emmanuel Adebayor, who is set to depart White Hart Lane this summer. AVB had intended to bring both David Villa and Roberto Soldado to the club this summer, but the Portuguese manager is now reconsidering his plan. Spanish newspaper Marca have reported that Spurs tabled an initial offer of just €20m for the former Real Madrid youngster. But with the two sides so far apart in their valuation of the forward, it seems unlikely that an agreement will be reached in the near future. Soldado played twice for Spain in the Confederations Cup, appearing in Spain’s match against Nigeria and scoring in their fixture against Uruguay. He was an unused substitute in the final, which Spain lost 3-0 to hosts Brazil.
