Tottenham legend: France are in the s**t Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker summed up the mood for Premier League players at Newcastle United, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs on Friday night. England are at the World Cup next summer, so are Nigeria and the Ivory Coast after last night - even Honduras have their place booked. They were defeated 2-0 by an overpowering Ukrainian side on Friday night - with goals from Roman Zozulya and Andriy Yarmolenko doing the trick. That is certainly bad news for a plethora of Premier League stars. Patrice Evra, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Mathieu Debuchy, Mamadou Sakho, Laurent Koscielny, Samir Nasri, Yohan Cabaye, Moussa Sissoko, Olivier Giroud, Loic Remy and Hugo Lloris make up the Premier League contingent currently playing with Les Bleus - and a former legend of the latter’s current employers had some choice words for the French national team after their defeat. The performances of these Newcastle United, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs stars are usually presented week-in-week-out by former Tottenham, Barcelona and Everton striker Gary Lineker. Fortunately for Gary, the international break has given him a rare weekend off - as someone who also covers weekend football I can vouch for that importance. But Lineker, who scored 80 goals in 138 games for Spurs, believes that Hugo Lloris and co are truly in trouble - in fact he demonstrated his penchant for the French language in doing so on Twitter… France are in la merde!
