Tottenham star tells friends he wants to move to United Gareth Bale has told friends that he wants to join Manchester United, the Daily Star understands. Bale‘s future has been the subject of furious debate since the start of the transfer window and in the last few days the ante has been upped, after reports emerged that Manchester United are willing to offer £60million for the Welshman. Despite Daniel Levy’s persistent claims that he will knock back any moves for Bale, the Spurs chairman could be forced into letting him go if he does not want to stay at White Hart Lane. Levy is still supposedly hurt by the reaction of fans to his sale of Dimitar Berbatov to United in 2008 for £30.8million, a record fee for the Old Trafford club. He will therefore be very cautious about how he handles any advance from David Moyes. Bale is said to have been caught on the idea of playing Champions League football next season, despite previous reports that he would be willing to go one more season without gracing Europe’s biggest stage. For that reason, Levy is willing to up Bale’s wages to £150,000 a week in order to keep him happy. While United’s interest in the Footballer of the Year is said to be serious, he is not the only player on their radar, so their ambition to sign Bale might be lessened with the signing of other targets such as Cesc Fabregas.
