Tour de France spoiler alert! Dont read if you intend watching the 6pm SBS broadcast!! Stage two saw the riders travel from York to Sheffield, UK. While not a mountainous stage there were three category three climbs to sort the climbers from the rest. A large breakaway was caught at the foot of one of the remaining climbs, at which point the climbers teams made their collective presence felt. Towards the top of the climb pre-race favourite Chris Froome (Sky) made an attack, which was quickly marked by his main rivals, including Alberto Contador, who seemed unfazed by all the excitement. Coming into the finish a flurry of attacks were all caught, and when Vincenzo Nibali, the Italian national champion rode away it was expected to be more of the same. However Nibalis timing was perfect and the Astana rider came home with a slight time gap over the rest of the field. Poor old Marcel Kittel was ejected from the bunch on the climbs, which means Nibali will wear the yellow jersey from Cambridge to London tomorrow.
