Towing cars without inspection stickers - alert! I have just - TopicsExpress

Towing cars without inspection stickers - alert! I have just about lost my marbles when I heard about them towing cars without stickers tonight. Reason being - as I have moved to Riverwest from Cedarburg, the registration sticker costs 20 bucks more. I did not know this because mail got forwarded and I sent the notice with 75 bucks in the mail. Nowhere on the notice does it say (as far as I remember) that it takes up to 8 weeks to process if not paid online. I also changed my address on the notice to my new Riverwest address. The payment I sent in via check gets taken out of my account in a matter of 2 days or so. 10 days later (about a week + day or two before my sticker for last year expires) I get a new notice saying that I owe them 20 more bucks. I send it in via mail again. Nowhere did it say, again, that processing time takes this long. Day after my sticker expired there was still no feedback from DMV nor has my money been taken out of my checking account (the remaining 20) to this day! Last Friday I call DMV and tell them about this - a very courteous employee tells me that processing time takes 6-8 weeks if sent by mail. I ask him if there is any way to get some kind of proof given that my payments have been sent in, so that I dont have to pay fines in case I am pulled over. He says no and tells me the only way to go about it at this point is to go online, pay the whole thing all over again, wait for them to send me the sticker sooner than 6-8 weeks because of online payment and then when they figure out I paid twice (after actually charging me for online AND processing the checks to realize I overpaid) they would give me the money back a few months down the road. Now I hear they are towing cars without stickers from our neighborhood. And how come, really, that it took only a few days for them to take the first 75 bucks out of my account, change my address in the system, send me a new notice that 20 dollars are missing for my adjusted Milwaukee County residence and it takes them 6-8 WEEKS to send me a damn sticker?! Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. I am calling Senator Nikiya Harris tomorrow AND emailing her. You should to. REMEMBER-we are stronger as a group. This is BS!
