Town hall to tackle Native American issues Native American aspects of the Keystone pipeline, gaming casinos, poverty, broken treaties and other issues will be the topic the Southern Indiana Democracy for America Town Hall at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Browning Room A of Central Library in Downtown Evansville. Rodney Richardson a columnist/ staff writer for Our Times Newspaper for the past 12 years, will be the featured speaker. Richardson is an American Indian (Eastern Cherokee) who writes about current events that affect and shape native communities nationwide and presents concerns about other indigenous peoples worldwide. In 1993, Richardson became a member of the advisory council for the AICI (American Indian Center of Indiana) local branch that opened in 1992 and remained on the board until 2003 when the Evansville office closed. He has been an activist in native causes such as helping to fight for the reburial rights for artifacts recovered from the Indian mounds at General Electric in Mount Vernon, Ind. Staff reports
