Tracie Hunter sentenced to 6 months in jail cincinnati/story/news/courts/2014/12/05/tracie-hunter-sentenced-jail/19960057/ My opinion after sleeping on the Hunter case: 1. Under current law and common practice, Ms. Hunter should not be sentenced to incarceration; 2. What she was convicted of, at worst giving her brothers lawyer some helpful documents from a file not readily available, to use at an internal, private administrative employment hearing, is not an abuse of public trust by an elected official and is probably not a crime; 3. There is prosecutorial misconduct in telling the jury Judge Hunter would not go to jail if they convicted her of something, to induce a conviction on a very thin case, and then advocating that she go to jail after conviction; 4. It is not Ms. Hunter, but the Enquirer who is primarily responsible here for creating distrust of our legal system, a circus, misinformation, fueling the fires of race baiting and many more serious violations of journalistic ethics and has disgraced itself, its editors, our well meaning corporate leaders, daily readers, and our community; 5. If we Democrats and Progressive Republicans are not motivated now to nominate, contribute to, promote and vote for enlightened, sensitive, and courageous judges, conservative suburban judges will continue their brand of justice and destroy our attempts to have a peaceful and loving downtown community in brotherhood and sisterhood with all races.
