Traditional American Folk Dance Class Saturday, January 10, 3:15PM Contra dancing is a traditional American folk dance. Its fun, lively, and welcoming to newcomers. Volunteer Claire Schaffer, a longtime contra dancer, will lead a small group of members in a special FREE contra dance class for beginners. Experienced dancers will take turns being partners with beginners to help guide you. We will meet at 3:15 in the basement hall at 201 West 13th Street in Greenwich Village. The dance class is 3:45 to 6PM. Claire will give an orientation to the dance and will teach some of the vocabulary used. Bring a pair of clean, soft-soled shoes to change into. A water bottle with your name on it is useful. Wear light, comfortable clothes; the exercise will make you warm. There will be a brown-bag dinner in the hall after 6. You can bring your own food or order pizza if youd like to hang out. For more information, see cdny.org. Limited to 10 people. Please sign up at the front desk.
