“Trail of Treasures” Flea Market Vendor Registrations Due Aug 16 Tourism promoters along Nebraska’s Heritage Highway 136 in southeastern Nebraska are planning a second flea market event along the byway, scheduled for October 4-6. A byway-long flea market event, called the “Trail of Treasures” will potentially bring thousands of visitors to communities along southeastern Nebraska highways in search of bargains. Anyone wishing to become a vendor for this year’s event must sign up by August 16th. Information about the “Trail of Treasures” flea market event can be found on the Heritage Highway’s website, HeritageHighway136 or by logging on to HeritageHighwayFleaMarket. There you can sign up to volunteer in your community, get information about being a vendor or becoming a sponsor. Shopper Guides will be available listing each community, vendor and sponsor, available mid September. “This event will have a big impact on tourism in the region, according to Heritage Highway 136 Association President, Jay Hall of Red Cloud. Nebraska’s Heritage Highway is a 238-mile stretch of Nebraska Highway 136 extending from historic Brownville along the banks of the Missouri River westward to Edison. The Heritage Highway was designated a state scenic byway by Governor Mike Johanns in 1999, one of nine scenic byways in the state of Nebraska.
