Training and Guiding Children - 22 Dhu Al Hijjah 1435 Continuation of the topic from last week, when the lofty status of parents was discussed. Training and guiding children - Hadith from Imam Zaynul Abideen (as): You are responsible for what has been entrusted to you in teaching them good behavior and guiding them towards our Lord and to help them to obey Allah swt on your behalf and on behalf of himself. Then you will be rewarded for doing so or you will be punished. Two ways this role can happen: - 1) Silent training - guidance through your actions -- There is a constant need for parents to reform themselves - 2) Physical / verbal training - guidance through teaching them -- Must complement the silent training, not oppose it -- Some parents put more emphasis on secular education. But Allah has given religious education as the parents responsibility -- Hadith from Prophet Muhammad (saww) about parents who dont teach their children about the obligations -- We need to find the balance between the two Advice on teaching children: - 1) Dont teach them harshly - 2) Teach them in moderation - 3) Dont teach Islam to show off - 4) Dont make Islam a burden for them We should realize that to do this responsibility correctly, we need the help of Allah swt -- Date: 22 Dhu Al Hijjah 1435 / October 16, 2014 -- Occasion: Shahadat Anniversary of Sons of Muslim ibn Aqeel (as) https://youtube/watch?v=0pB1o1fHkIo
