Training for a race? Or just going for a run around the neighborhood? No matter the reason why you’re hitting the pavement, here are some tips from active that you can use to instantly become a better runner: 1. Wait at least three hours after a big meal before going for a run. Opt for meals that are high in protein to help rebuild muscle tissue. 2. Drink a cup of water before your run to prevent dehydration. 3. Make sure you have good, supportive running shoes. Replace your running shoes after about 500 miles of use. 4. Take a hot bath or shower after a run to help soothe sore muscles. 5. After a workout, lay on your back on the ground for a couple minutes with your legs propped up against the wall. This will help drain the blood from your legs so when you return to standing, new blood will pump to your legs. This helps your legs recover after a tough workout.
