Training people to leave the LSU game early?? Talked to the Advocate today about the traffic huge traffic jam that occured after the LSU Ole MISS game...A great game but they need to get this traffic problem fixed before the Alabama game. Coach Miles wants the crowd to stay to help the team..I agree 100% But LSU is training people to leave early by the horrendous traffic that is far worse than necessary. And its far more than just a contraflow problem as Sgt Wallace states.....My experience: All the traffic from River Road and Nicholson drive were stopped dead-not moving at 5 miles an hour but stopped dead. People were even getting out of their cars and sitting on their roofs trying to figure what was going on. Moving from parking lot 101 to the gates of LSU which is 1/2 mile took 1 hour. Then another 30 minutes getting to Government street where everyone (except those going West over the bridge) goes to catch the Interstate. At the Frost Top, the traffic light was working without a policeman (yes there was a cruiser but no one in sight). That meant that each time the light turned green 5-8 cars went through and it turned red again-thereby bottlenecking all the miles of traffic behind it. Of course, from this light to the Interstate it was completely void of traffic. Yes, I know some say the crowd was so large and that was why. Well large crowds will part of LSU football for hopefully a long time to come. This can be fixed and its low tech to do so. Give the police the popsicle flashlights and have them get the traffic rapidly moving to away from the stadium..In about 45 minutes, most of it would then be dispersed as folks head home with a smile on their face for a big Tiger Win
