Training workshop “Office and Interpersonal Skills” at University of Gujrat A two day training workshop “Office and Interpersonal Skills” was held at the Hafiz Hayat Campus, University of Gujrat (UoG) on October 13-14, 20014 organized by Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) UoG in collaboration with IKTAR (Institute of Knowledge, Training, Action & Reform). The objective of this training workshop was to improve the working skills of the employees of UoG performing duties in different departments enhancing their working capacity in the scenario of modern skills introducing them with the modern concepts of knowledge and action. About 40 employees of UoG were the participants of this training workshop. Prof Dr Muhammad Faheem Malik, Dean Faculty of Sciences UoG inaugurated the orientation session of this training workshop along with the Registrar Dr Tahir Aqeel. Dr Tahir Awan, In Charge HRDC UoG was the organizer and moderator of this workshop while Mr Shafqat Jilani, Director IKTAR was the chief trainer. Dr Muhammad Faheem Malik said that development of personality and learning of modern skills, were the basic traits which should be taught to every employee at times for improving general working atmosphere of the institutions. He said that sincerity and honesty were two basic tactics to work better; responsibility towards official work could be improved through such type of trainings. He said that training could play an important role in the personality building. He said that the basic duty of an employee was to facilitate the people and it could be achieved only through improving efficiency level. He stressed on streamlining of duties in Pakistani society. Dr Tahir Aqil said that changes were occurring speedily in the modern world and the old modus operandi had become obsolete. He said that it had become essential to transform our working procedure in the institutions according to the needs of modern times. He hoped that the workshop would help to introduce the employees with new concept, perception and model of work. He also shed light upon the purpose of HRDC. He hoped that there should be a tangible difference after this training. Mr Shafqat Jilani said that learning was a basic human trait and the entire human progress was based on learning. He said that a skill could only be learnt through will power. He said that creativity, interaction and participation were the basic elements of training. He was of the view that trainings could improve, perk and develop human personality by finding out the hidden capabilities and behaviour of your character. He said that the youth had all the flavour of success and it is our responsibility to help our youth for making them more efficient, competent, productive and well-organized. Dr Tahir Awan said that a series of training workshops had been started at the UoG funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) for achieving the goal of excellence in the fields of academic and official working of the university. He said that the objective of those training workshops was to compete of the needs of modern world and improve the faculties and talent of the staff. He hoped that those trainings would help to improve the human skills in institutional management.
