Hasan Usruf, the worker lynched on the Tel Aviv boardwalk a few months ago and still bears severe physical injury, does not get the minimum state administrative assistance for being absent at his job. When hate and incitement acts against Arabs in Israel take place in silence, when in the background a senior government minister compares Palestinians to "an [Trans: explosion] fragment in the buttock" - the message is clear, and no denials and polite gestures will change that. A government that truly wants peace, must prove its intentions in all spheres. Both by word and by deed, and in particular with a mighty and earnest hand directed at any challenge to the efforts to do the right thing.
