Transhumanism and Identity. We could talk about online profiles, online avatars and virtual reality presence and how all of these things get integrated into our sense of identity - but lets talk about Furries. A transhumanist future will undoubtedly allows for more personal expression and will also allows us to create a more facetted identity. The word morphological freedom points to the freedom to physically BE WHAT WE WANT TO BE. Its our right, our right to live by our technology and/or to shape ourselves and express our selfimage however wed like. With this much freedom this ideal world would have to have a whole lot more openess and tolerance. With more freedom and diversity we often see more acceptence but we also see more fear and prejudice. Furries have or atleast seem to have a pretty odd sense of identity relating themselves to antopromophic animals. A part of their identity some of them express through their fursuits. (see the video below). It would perhaps be to easy to accept the ideas of transhumanism in hopes of a future scenario with nanoaugmented super arms with a sleek futuristic finish. However with the freedom of expression we see phenomena like the fursuit today. A phenomena that get alot of bad press in todays society, but why? what do you think about furries? - How would you think people would feel about furries appearing and beeing a part of our everyday life. - Who knows what we could see in the future.
