Transportation Riders United, Detroit Office Manager $15.00 - $20.00 / Hourly/Part-time/25 hrs/Monday - Friday/Days Mostly from 9:00am - 3:00pm Job Description: Transportation Riders United (TRU) is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization based in downtown Detroit and dedicated to improving public transit throughout greater Detroit. We are seeking a highly-organized person with substantial office management experience to enable smooth daily operations of our small office. Experience with a nonprofit advocacy organization is a plus. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintain office environment, equipment, supplies and systems 2. Manage incoming communications, including calls, mail, email, and office visitors 3. Assist with external communications, including mailings to donors and website updates 4. File management and recordkeeping 5. Support staff activities, including maintaining shared calendar and preparing staff meeting minutes 6. Manage meetings logistics for Board, member and other key meetings 7. Facilitate and oversee office volunteers to assist with mailings, filing, and other basic office tasks 8. Other tasks as needed to support and improve effective organization functioning Qualifications: REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES 1. Demonstrated experience effectively managing an office 2. Very good time management and project management skills. Able to effectively organize and prioritize workload, reliably meeting deadlines and goals 3. Excellent record-keeping, database management, and reporting skills 4. Self-driven independent worker with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills 5. Good team player, able to effectively support others in the team 6. Very good written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills 7. Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately 8. Proven mastery of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), Google Drive, and standard office equipment 9. Can lift and carry up to 20 pounds DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES 1. Prior experience with nonprofit advocacy organizations a definite plus 2. Advanced computer/technology expertise a plus 3. Familiar with public transit providers, plans and projects in southeast Michigan 4.
