Transwomen & Transmen protest in Chennai today support their hunger strike. The transgenders put forth a 10-point charter of demands that included 3 per cent reservation for government jobs; allowing them to register in employment exchanges, concession on fees for those studying in colleges and financial assistance. “Through an RTI, I found that we don’t have a provision to appear for competitive exams like TNPSC and UPSC. We want third gender category in all applications issued by the government,” said Swapna, a transgender from Madurai.
