Travel adventures of a FabAcademic - day 3 in Bern This is the day I had my 31st invited keynote/plenary lecture in academia. I am specifying in academia because I am not counting the many many keynote lectures and plenary talks I have given in non-academic environments such as schools, churches, prisons, etc. these are just not countable! To have my 31st invited keynote/plenary talk only after 18 years of being an academic is very special. How blessed am I? VERY! I still have two more plenaries to go this year- first at the international conference on the Psychology of Mathematics Education and the second will be at the South African Mathematical Society. Its one thing to be an academic and go around to present papers at conferences but quiet another to have your peers wanting to hear from you in this manner! Yesterdays lecture went very well. As a speaker you know your lecture was well received when every lecture you attend thereafter refers to it. This is besides getting lots of people coming to tell me what they learned from it. And then one woman came to give me a special blessing. She said, you were so good! I wish you success in everything you do! Its the way she said it that have me goose bumps. It was a moment of power but I didnt ask for anything, I chose to receive the blessing! At the end if the conference I took a bus back to the hotel because I was wearing high heels 😜 I then put on my comfortable dress and went walking around the city. I went through the old part of the city with beautiful buildings. See pictures. I also went through loads of shops - clothes, watches, shoes, perfumes etc all on special and I did not buy anything! Yes! You know you are grown up when you can walk through that much with enough money to spend and you do t buy anything. I kept saying to myself, but I dont need another pair of shoes! Thats grown up! Okay let me get ready for today.
