Tri-Meet results from todays matches with Jackson Liberty and Toms River East at TRE- A tough day for Shawnee as they dropped both of their matches today. Winners for Shawnee in the first match against Jackson Liberty were Isaiah Bryant by pin (145), Alex Ward by pin (170), Matt Higgins 7-0 dec (106), and Dylan Hunt with another strong effort in coming away with a 16-2 major dec. The Renegades seemed more evenly matched against Toms River East in the finale, splitting bout victories at 7 apiece. Shawnee built a quick 7-0 lead after the first two bouts on the strength of an Andrew Connolly decision at 138 and an Isaiah Bryant Major at 145. After a TRE pin at 152, Mark Gross hung very tough in a tight 1-0 decision at 160 which was followed by a pin at 170 from Alex ward. TRE took the next two bouts with a 10-2 major at 182 and a forfeit at 195 to know the score at that point at 16 - 16. Aaron Bill kept grinding away in his 220 lb bout and came away with an important pin before The Renegades forfeited at 285. At 106, Freshman Matt Higgins continued adding to his impressive Rookie resume with a pin that was followed by a forfeit victory for Dylan Hunt at 113, pushing the score to 34-22 in favor of Shawnee with only three bouts left to wrestle. At 120 lbs, Griffin Hastings had one of his toughest days yet as a Renegade Wrestler end on the wrong side of a pin. Then came a great bout at 126 in which Riley Tufts came up just short, giving up the deciding take down in the sudden victory period. And then, with The Renegades clinging to a close 34-31 lead, Toms River Easts Tyler Machnik closed out the match with an 18-3 tech fall which secured victory for The Raiders, 36 - 34.
