Trick or Treat--A cent-worth our Kids’ time? So sad that some or most of the people who patronize ancient practices and rituals are normally unaware of what they make out of themselves—either they are socially inclined to be just in the bandwagon; to copy what others are doing without thinking or adopt something new and trending or simply out of sheer ignorance. The Bible says, people perish for lack of knowledge. Other people may not agree with me, but our lack of knowledge can blur our appreciation of Christian values and its spiritual implication in our daily lives. Such is in the case of celebrating Halloween. Historically, Halloween is a pagan rite dating back to some pre-Christian activities among the Celtic Druids, a religious order in ancient Britain, Ireland and France that escaped church suppression. Even today modern pagans and witches continue to celebrate this ancient festival. But nothing could be further from the truth. The origin of Halloween was, in fact very Christian. Halloween falls on October 31 because of a Pope and its observance was the result of medieval Catholic piety. It is lamentable when we miss out on the moral implications of our beliefs and cling to blind obedience minding only what is acceptable to society. The result is we are bound to delusion. When we adopt this thing without really understanding our actions, we subject our kids to some stinking and eroding morals which degenerate true Christian values-- allowing our kids go trick-or-treating, they don’t know it, but they are worshiping the devil and pagan gods. You say its just for fun, but we can do better than that. What do we teach our children which they can carry on until they are old to leave a beautiful legacy behind..Dont you think there are other fun games and treats that we can teach our growing children worth our while? It would be a cent worth of our time and effort to reexamine our religious practices. They can be taboo already, anti-Christ and are detrimental to our offspring. –tm.delosreyes
