Tried to go to Hatfield & McCoy Days but that didnt work. And the attempt settles it that Im going to ask the next doc I have an appointment with for a script for a new power chair. If Im allowed to pay it in installments, Ill find a way to pay off my share. And if my insurance wont approve it, then its worthless. This is what happened: I dug out my black leather jacket for the season and draped it over my walker because it had been raining just before I woke up this morning and my new meds make me even more prone to pneumonia than I used to be (itll likely be pneumonia or something else lung related that kills me in the end). Glad I did. I walked out to Main Street, went to the ATM, then went up and down the street deciding what I wanted to get to eat and what order would be best to get it in. Was also looking for a couple colleagues of mine whom I heard were running a BBQ stand. Didnt see them; they must be on down in the Riverfill and I couldnt walk that far. I got two polish dogs - one for me and one to put in the fridge for Granddaddy (he loves them as much as I do and we cant find a restaurant that serves them around here). It started raining, so I put my jacket on, but it wasnt much more than a sprinkle. Still, I made a mental note not to stay for the entertainment, but instead go back home to eat. Got Mom a Greek Sampler Plate because she loves them and they only come around with the festivals. Texted to find out if Sis wanted something special - she didnt. While waiting for the answer, I got me some ice cream. It started pouring. I tried to find a short cut home, but there isnt any. Most of the streets dont go all the way through Second to Hambley and most of the parking lots are fenced off on one side. The seat of my walker got so wet that the food started sliding around and I was terrified I would dump it in the street while trying to navigate a ramp. So I had to slow down, given that the sidewalks are sloped every crazy way and the ramps generally too steep (the only decent walking space is down the middle of the road but I doubt vehicles would take kindly to that). This got worse as I tired out and the tendon in my foot began threatening to give me painful trouble. By the time I got home, I looked like I just stepped out of the shower. Everything in the basket of my walker was also soaked. Arg. Drying off and warming up now. And everyones food is wrapped in aluminum foil and safely in the fridge to be picked up and delivered tomorrow. My ice cream is mostly melted and my polish dog is cold. But its still good eating. So much for doing fun for funs sake today. I *need* a working power chair - no question now. Wonder what Ill name it? At Pioneer School, the sister who was my housemate suggested I name my walker Priscilla or Prisca. One means little woman and the other means little old woman. These refer to the same woman in the Bible (Aquila and Priscilla). As soon as I find out again which one means little old woman, that will be its name. :)
