Trina Brown-Tatum confirmed the passing of her husband; my friend and brother. Im not at a loss for words. Its just the opposite. There isnt enough time or space to adequately convey what I feel about not only Leonard Tatums transition, but his journey and brave battle to the end; or better yet...to his new beginning. Furthermore, I salute his amazing bride,Trina, who exemplified a brand of unconditional love rarely seen; who, by her own husbands admission, was faithful and committed amidst this most dreaded diagnosis. She also battled cancer! (For although one family member is diagnosed with it, the entire family is afflicted by it) Thank you Trina for modeling the other side of weddings, honeymoons, and date-nights. Thank you for showing marital covenant in a whole new light; and an undying commitment to vows under the most extenuating of circumstances. Anybody can stay when things are ideal. But, you showed an unwavering faithfulness during the most tempestuous storms. Thank you for being a rock to my good friend. Thank you for being his rib. You dont know of the things he spoke concerning you when he and I were together at that hospital. Im not at liberty to disclose everything. But, I can tell you this. He told me you were his good thing; and, along with his children, the best thing to have ever happened to him. Im in tears as I post this. My words are stained with the tears of swelling emotions, like the evening tides that crest along the shoreline. But, they arent just tears of sadness. They are mixed with joy that my brother no longer suffers; that he rests awaiting the changing of his ravaged, mortal body into an immortal one; fashioned after the very Captain of our souls. Finally, my tears are seasoned with comfort that the God of all comfort is about to reveal Himself to you and your children in unimaginable ways. This post honors him as a fallen-yet-soon-to-rise-again soldier. And it honors you as being a virtuous woman whose price is far beyond rubies!
