Trinidad and Tobago Guardian Celebrating Emancipation Published: Thursday, July 25, 2013 Emancipation celebration at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, begins tomorrow and will feature a varied programme of events including performances by local and foreign artistes, as well as highlight the culture, food and history of African descendants. On Wednesday, African queen of song and Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo will be the featured entertainer. The Beninoise singer-songwriter and activist is noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos. This year marks the 175th anniversary of emancipation of slaves who were brought from Africa to this region. Following is the schedule of activities.
