Tripadvisor review ; “Style, Cocktails and Fine Dining Return to Cospicua” Jan 6, 2015 This great addition to the Cospicua/Bormla scene lived up not only to expectations but also to the hopes of many for the regeneration of this splendid and historic Grand Harbour town (one of the famous Three Cities). For far too long, in fact ever since the devastation caused by WW2 bombing of Dockyard Creek, this once proud community has languished. Cafe Rouge, I believe, is a pace-setter, a sign of things to come in one of the few authentic urban areas left on Malta. The tourist potential - the right kind of tourism, mind you - is enormous. Excellent cocktails (a Dry Martini worthy of the neo-colonial Phoenicia just outside Valletta), and then first-rate food served with unassuming friendliness. My steak was just about the most tender I have ever tasted, and cooked medium-rare to perfection. Delicious patisseries and excellent coffee rounded off a memorable meal. Better than the Vittoriosa waterfront! Id recommend Cafe Rouge unreservedly. My only perhaps would be rather loud music - but, hey, this is Malta. And if the other punters like it . . .
