Triple Wednesday RANT!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. AVERT YOUR EYES IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED!!! These are problems that I think our city of Spokane needs to get real about and fix. RANT #1 - The latest report on the state of Roads is that Spokane has some of the worse streets in Washington State. Yep, this is true. This is unacceptable. We just spent a ton of money on a road bond and still have crappy roads. I just cruised through downtown on different streets, and was embarrassed by how bad the streets in the gateways to our city are. Im sick of the Mayor and city giving out raises when we cannot afford to maintain out streets and infrastructure. We really need to start prioritizing and get our city back on track. No raises till we get streets, police and other necessities fixed. I dont want to have visitors to our city thinking Spokane is a ghetto... RANT #2 - We have new neighbors in our downtown area. I had hoped that this new bar (which shall go nameless) would come in being good neighbors. I even talked to the owners before they opened and told them about the previous noise issues we faced. So now 6 months in we have the same noise issues with this bar blasting our music at ridiculous levels after 10pm most weekends. I have talked to the owners and the building owners, but still have the noise that keeps people in this neighborhood from being able to sleep till the bar closes 2am. SO I call the police and want to file a complaint, BUT the say they cannot do anything because it is a business. I call city Code enforcement and they say its the polices problems and not theirs. I HATE GETTING THE RUNAROUND AND BEING LIED TO BY THE CITY. We have a 10pm noise curfew and I would please like it enforced so I can sleep... :( RANT #3 - We have a driveway in front of the Spokane Party Trolley LLC in the Merlyns Spokane building. They need to get in and out of their space to run their business. People park in the unmarked driveway. SO I call the city to get a No parking, this is a driveway sign put up to help people figure it out and avoid getting towed away if they block the driveway. NOPE says the city. We dont feel there is a need and dont think its necessary... Why does our city fight smart ideas and solutions to easily fixed problems? Im only trying to help solve a problem that creates upset visitors and help a small business stay alive. Its so frustrating to deal with the unmoving bureaucracy of the city... :( Im not sure what to do next to fix this problems. Maybe some of my city council can help? City residence - Feel free to post you complaints and problems on this thread. We need to have our local leaders start pushing our city departments to do a better job. Please be fair and civil in your complaining...
