Tropical Storm Ana continues to strengthen over the Central Pacific Ocean southeast of Hawaii. Its centered as of 11 a.m. EDT / 5 a.m. HST about 895 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, moving toward the northwest. Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph. A continued and gradual strengthening during the next 48 hours is forecast, and Ana should become a hurricane on Wednesday afternoon. Interests in the Hawaiian Islands should monitor the progress of this tropical cyclone. NOAAs Central Pacific Hurricane Center is issuing the forecasts for Ana.
