True Story Thursday: It took me 3 months of intense withdrawal symptoms to break my life-long Diet Coke habit 4 years ago... It was brutal- and my husband was very brave and managed to not divorce me over it. I had read that Diet Coke is essentially poison so I switched to iced tea. This morning after dropping my kids off at school (yeah!) I remembered that I forgot to make tea last night so I ran in to Quik Trip for some. They were OUT of unsweet tea. (Sweet tea is like drinking maple syrup and is NOT an option) so I was forced to make a decision between going to the other Quik Trip or buying a different caffeine delivery system. So I grabbed a can of Diet Coke, and since Quik Trip in the morning smells like delicious fresh cinnamon rolls and those things are like crack I grabbed one of those too. As I am walking out, a very nice man is holding the door open for me. Quess who it was? Yep. It was Kenny Tate, the aforementioned long-suffering husband. He is all like when did we start drinking Diet Coke again? So I had to tell him the whole entire tea story but I got the impression that he did not even remotely believe me and I felt like a teenager whose mom found pot in his top dresser drawer. Moral of the story: You cant get away with Jack Shit in a small town.
