‘True humility and fear of the LORD lead to riches, honor, and long life.’ – Proverbs 22:4 NLT “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.” (1 Peter 5:6) True humility and fear [amazement] of the LORD lead to riches [of His glory], because if we really humble ourselves before the Lord, then we feel the overflow of the Holy Spirit all the time, which eventually leads us to His glory that we can feel His presence in everything we do, and we can understand why life makes sense. “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:2-3) “Humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.” (1 Peter 5:6) True humility and fear [amazement] of the LORD lead to honor, that we can be the righteousness of God, which all of us are called from our heavenly Father, to be His obedient children – ‘As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”’ (1 Peter 1:14-16) True humility and fear of the LORD lead to long life, because we believe that Jesus is the way of the life and the truth (John 14:6) - Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:5-6) “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” (John 3:16-18) Therefore, Proverbs 22:4 concludes that we need to fear the Lord ALL times, and obey the Holy Spirit who is living inside of us (see John 14:15-17), NOT by legalism, but in our true humility/full-devotion to Jesus Christ, as we are called to be His obedient children (see 2 Corinthians 5:21), for it leads to riches, honor, and long life, for Jesus Christ is the way of the life and the truth! (John 14:6) “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) “Let the whole world fear the LORD, and let everyone stand in awe of him, for true humility and fear of the LORD lead to riches, honor, and long life!” (Psalm 33:8, Proverbs 22:4)
