Trusting or Testing? By Ron Moore on March 18th, 2013 When Satan proposed that Jesus jump from the highest point of the temple and depend on God for a safe landing, Jesus said, “Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” Jesus trusted the father’s plan, even though it meant the cross. Jesus refused Satan’s plan to jump and pray for God’s protection on the way down. So I’ve been thinking… What’s the difference between trusting God and testing God? Here are my thoughts. Send me yours. Trusting God takes place in the context of obedience. Testing God takes place in the context of disobedience. Trusting God stands on God’s promises. Testing God presumes on his grace. Trusting God is depending on God’s help as I walk with him. Testing God is depending on God’s help as I walk away from him. Testing God is “Evangelism Dating” (I am in love with a non-Christian. Save him, God). Trusting God is waiting on God’s spouse. Testing God is cutting the corners in business and asking for God’s favor. Trusting God is doing business with integrity, and depending on God to provide. Trusting God is parenting according to Scripture, and prayerfully building godly children. Testing God is parenting according to peer pressure, and praying for godly children.
