Truth is the only solution to all problems, without it, no measure works. (see chapter 5, The truth about Nigeria). Individuals, especially those residing outside Nigeria, foreign media as well as organizations have always had constrains in arriving at the true situation in Nigeria, many unrealistic informations and statistics have been published for world consumption.This is so because often times, many see certain actions or attitude from Nigerians without understanding how or why such should be practiced by any citizen and based on their lack of information or experience of the prior situation, they make judgement on their limited research and experience which ofcourse doesn’t explain the real situation. Many who claimed to know Nigeria make their judgement on myopic observation or few visitation to the country within certain geagraphy or after reading or watching news report about the situation, but many of these reports or opinion doesn’t reflect the reality in the self accalimed giant of Africa. The feeling of knowing the truth about a situation, without actually knowing the exact truth is generally not good for individuals or the general society, as the lack of adequate knowledge leads one into greater misdirection and in the process, misdirecting others. However, people hardly want to admit they lack adequate knowledge about a situation, everyone want to be seen as the knowledgeable whose view is the ultimate truth. In other to help the world know the real truth and question what they held to be true about the Nigerian situation, this book was born to provide alternative,but factual realities in Nigeria backed by day to day practical examples. Consider The truth about Nigeria a kind of hand book that seek to help provide measure of understanding Nigeria in its true form. Information contained here are based on practicality, not prediction. They are experiences of the day to day life of the Nigerian people. The truth about Nigeria is a critical book which is aimed at presenting the true situation of Nigeria to the world, countering some false negative perceptions and statistics about the Nigerian economy, politics, leadership, people and ways of life. The book contain six (6) chapters and had about 70 pages, though, it shall be a series book. The book talked about weather or not, Nigeria is a failed state. It critically examine how Nigeria is failing aswell as how it is not failing. It maintained that in reality, Nigeria has the largest economy in Africa; it has the largest enterprising citizens and also has the largest poverty. But despite its poverty, its citizens can afford to provide certain alternative basic services for themselves. (see chapter 1, Nigeria, a failed state). It also discussed the indicators of a failed state and carefully illustrate its relation to Nigeria, where it ascertain that some of those factors are clearly present in the country, while others are not. It provides alternative statistics to explain certain misinformation which certainly require more investigation from constituted bodies. It hold that, there is no country in the world which completely satisfy the indictors of a developed state, neither is there any state that completely escaped indicators of a failed state. (see chapter 1, Nigeria, a failed state). This chapter certainly provide some explanation on some statistical mis-information about Nigeria with the aide of practical illustrations. The book also examine through the aid of practical examples, how Nigeria democracy is weakening, giving another sign of weaken democracy in Nigeria as internally displaced people within the country since the return to democratic governance in 1999. (See chapter 2, Why Democracy is not working in Nigeria or Africa). Also, the book talked about the political present and future of Nigerian youths, discussing its chances and constrains, while charging the youths to take greater responsibility without relying on any leader or elder for opportunity. It hold that,youthfulness or being a youthful person is an opportunity to make changes happen in your own life time. If you fail to effect the changes you deserve as a youth, you shall live the rest of your life hoping on others. It emphasized on the cruciality of youth involvement in government at all level. (see chapter 4, youths must take a stand) Chapter three (3) titled ‘’Decline in Purposeful Leadership-Bane of Nigeria’s woes’’ traces the quality of leadership since independence of the nation and discuss in elaborate, the concepts of purposeful leadership. It also present reasons on why Africa has authoritarian tendencies in its government. Using 3 founding leaders of the country as a case study (Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, Alhaji Aminu Kano), it discussed certain leadership misconception held by most Nigerians. The truth about Nigeria is the fifth chapter in the book. This chapter captures the exact truth Nigerians and the world must know. In this chapter, several challenges believed to be facing the country was critically examined and it was revealed in this chapter that, most of these challenges believed to be the key problems of Nigeria are secondary challenges that is likely to naturally disappear if the one primary challenge is adequately addressed. The primary challenge was identified and discussed in elaborate. The book then went ahead to suggest ways to put Nigeria on the path of tranquility. Finally, the closing chapter in the book proposed an action plan to be embarked upon by individuals and organizations to reverse the downward trend of education and out of school children in Nigeria. The book can be browse through and picked apart for entertainment. However,it becomes most informing,revealing and amusing by taking it seriousely. Do not be frivolous with such a critical matter like knowing the giant of Africa, since you must have already know that, for every 5 black Africans, Nigeria is one.
