Try these tricks to avoid overuse running injuries ! SELF MASSAGE: Speeds up recovery Enjoy it. GET FLEXIBLE: Promote functional flexibility with dynamic stretching. REFUEL: Post recovery is for rebuilding so you can go again. Don’t skip it ! GET STRONG: Running is a highly complex movement that involves the entire body. Get stronger in these basic exercises (planks & bridges, push ups & pull ups, lunges & squats) your body will thank you. ICE IT: It’s a common practice among elite athletes and ultra runners. Some research is contradictory, however I personally use it and have had great recovery with it. COMPRESSION: Compression socks increase blood flow not just while you’re running (that’s a given !) but after racing or training. Heck sleep in them ! SLEEP: Your body rebuilds itself while you’re sleeping and adapts to the workload you’re placing on it. If it doesn’t adapt, you won’t become better runner. Sleep and sleep soundly – kick the dog off the bed. AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE….EAT CLEAN!!!! TREAT YOUR BODY LIKE A MACHINE ! You wouldn’t put watered down gas in top fuel dragster! Food is fuel not perfume! Eat to sustain your lifestyle. So you may not like veggies that much, eat them anyway ! They are good for you. Stop eating crap and you will stop feeling like crap !
