Trying to find an alternative station in my car and I stumble across Classic FM, and I think, why just indulge myself for this journey. But the longer I listened the more I realise that classical music has been ruined for our generation, not because we lack taste, or refinement, or culture, these are all facile arguments. And it isnt even a lack of exposure to the music, it is in fact the very way in which we have been exposed to it which has ruined it. Horror movies. Romantic comedies with Hugh Grant. Any advert selling a sofa between January 3rd to January 1st. All of which are equally as scarring to a young person as the last.
