Tucker, Rodgers earn Player of Week honors Lancaster players earn weekly award for second consecutive week LANCASTER, Calif. – Minor League Baseball announced Monday that outfielder Preston Tucker has been named the California League Offensive Player of the Week and Brady Rodgers has been named California League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 27-June 2. The announcement marks the second straight week in which a JetHawk has earned a weekly award. Andrew Aplin was named California League Offensive Player of the Week for the week of May 20-26. Tucker hit .440 (11-for-25) with three home runs, four doubles and 19 RBI. The outfielder scored 12 runs, walked eight times and only struck out three times. During the week, the former Florida Gator extended his Cal League and Minor League RBI lead to 57. He also finished the week in the midst of a 17-game hitting streak. Tucker, who leads the JetHawks with 11 home runs this season, is the third Lancaster position player to earn the award this season. Aside from Aplin, Matt Duffy received the honor for the first week of the season. Brady Rodgers is the first Lancaster pitcher to be named California League Pitcher of the Week in 2013. Rodgers appeared in two games and went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. The right-hander allowed only four hits and issued just one walk. He struck out seven. The former Arizona State ace finished the week with a 15 consecutive scoreless innings streak. He is tied for the team-lead with five wins and is team-leader with a 3.28 ERA. Lancaster finished the week at 6-1. The team swept a three-game series at Rancho Cucamonga and won three of four at home against Visalia. Update: Tucker’s hitting streak ended at 17 games after an 0-for-4 performance on Monday night in Stockton. Rodgers will put his consecutive scoreless innings streak to the test on Wednesday night when he makes his first start of the week at Stockton.
