Tuesday 25 June 2013 Exhibtion: ‘Remembrance of Things Past’ Kaushik Gupta In order to express interest and involvements in paintings and arts under the title ‘Remembrance of Things Past’ I am presenting this exhibition. Through my canvases I have tried to touch the essence of life, the spiritual value and instinctive driving need amidst our modern hectic lives. I have tried to revitalize my thoughts and spirits, infusing warmth and sunshine. Thus I use paintings to record lives- by combining both realities and imagination—just as our memories are. It is a part as well as the whole. The title of my exhibition ‘Remembrance of Things Past’ or’ In Search of Lost Time’(French: À la recherche du temps perdu) is a novel in seven volumes written by famous French novelist, critic, and essayist Marcel Proust. Kaushik Gupta is a total abstract artist. He tries to depict memories that quickly move from present to past. The impression remains and the artist paint the memory field. The colour uses are mostly brown again most suitable for the chosen subject. He has chosen quite a complicated subject and he succeeds in giving glimpses of what is revealed to him.
